Summary
Optical Engineers at Meta will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of wearable systems, exploring uncharted territories for next-generation wearable devices. This role involves designing architecture and optical sub-systems for wearable glasses, developing and implementing test, characterization, metrology, and data solutions to support transparent display systems.
Optical Architect - AI Accelerators Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional teams in the design, development, and implementation of cutting‑edge optical solutions for new optics architecturesIdentify, incubate, and productize optical technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the field of wearable opticsSpecify key performance metrics, test methods, and test requirements for optical components and systemsDevelop and maintain technical roadmapsInterface with stakeholders and leadership to influence product roadmapsStay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activityManage budgets, resources, and collaborations with global vendorsMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, and/or equivalent practical experience8+ years of experience in optical systems engineering and/or other relevant fieldsExperience in the wearables industry, including human‑vision, optical design, coating, and manufacturing process, or similar experienceExperience communicating and collaborating in a cross‑functional team environmentExperience in Design of Experiment and statistical analysis using JMP, Matlab, or similar programsPreferred Qualifications
PhD in Optical Engineering, Photonics, Optics, Physics, and/or equivalent practical experience8+ years of experience in architecture, design, systems engineering for augmented reality optical/display systemsIn depth knowledge of entire optical system design from electron to photon to the eye for display systemsDemonstrated experience in operating with speed and agility in ambiguous or fast‑moving environments, including startup or early‑stage product development experienceProven experience in technical communication to influence architecture decisions across organizational boundariesExperience incorporating AI/ML tools or computational methods into engineering design workflowsPublic Compensation
$173,000/year to $245,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
