Basic Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong foundation in missile flight dynamics, stability, and/or maneuvering
- Expertise in control theory (e.g., classical, state space, optimal, robust, adaptive)
- Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink for modeling, linearization, and/or Monte Carlo analysis
- Knowledge of software methods or standards including safety critical items and/or version control systems (Git, Gitlab, Artifact repos)
- Ability to develop and execute unit, integration, and/or system level test plans (HIL, SIL, flight test)
- Strong written and oral communication skills for cross functional teams and senior leadership
- Experience with real time embedded software and/or model based code generation
- Proficiency with high fidelity simulation tools and experience designing and/or maintaining control system models
- To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
- Secret clearance is required to start employment.
- Selected candidates will be required to obtain, and maintain, a government issued Secret clearance for long term employment on this program.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Controls Technical Specialist who will perform technical execution scope associated with flight vehicle control system design, algorithm development, software integration, sensor system modeling & analysis, performance analysis, hardware integrated testing, and weapons system verification within the Theater Strike Weapon Systems (TSWS) and Strategic Missile Defense (SMD) portfolios. Anchored by the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program, the portfolio is undergoing rapid growth associated with multiple product lifecycle phases within CPS and several peer development program efforts.
InThis Role, You Should Anticipate
- Working on advanced missile control system architecture, design, integration, testing, and analysis within hypersonic weapon system programs
- Leveraging past experience in weapon system and missile system/subsystem development and analysis to shape current and future program execution
- Collaborating with program managers, systems and software engineering or engineering leaders to delivery component(s)/subsystem(s), designs, and analysis to programs
- Provides programmatic direction to engineering staff and team(s), collaborates on execution, analysis, design/peer reviews
- Applying proficiency in C++ and MATLAB to develop, verify, validate, and perform analysis, review analysis artifacts of others, assess data products, and delivery technical summary briefings
- Communicating technical results effectively and working collaboratively across teams, working groups, review boards, and technical execution teams
- Support Agile execution of programs and projects through planning/backlog development, increment execution, and coordination/review of junior staff assignments
- Develop and review data packages, analysis, and presentations for working groups, review board
- Coordinate internal efforts and external elements to develop, verify, and validate both complex simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations (6-DOF), hardware test architectures/environments, flight algorithms development, stability and control analyses, software integration, and flight algorithms software verification to achieve weapon system performance
- Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
- Perform and align staff execution for critical studies, analyses, and test activities
- Support hardware subsystem technical staff in the requirements, analysis, integration, verification, and hardware testing of control actuation systems in flight representatives simulation and hardware test environments.
- Direct experience with thrust vector control (hydraulic, electromechanical, flexible nozzle, RCS) actuation systems
- Experience with real time embedded software and model based code generation
- Experience in the planning and execution of hardware test or flight test campaigns, including stability and control analysis, launch criteria evaluation, telemetry handling, and post test analysis or reconstruction
- Understanding of Range Safety and MIL STD 882 system safety/hazard analysis processes
- Real time implementation and optimization of control algorithms within embedded software or firmware applications
- Experience in development and integration of a high-fidelity vehicle simulation including thrust vector control and bending structural dynamics
- Demonstrated experience with test and tactical flight algorithm performance evaluation in the frequency and time domains
