Job Description & How to Apply Below
Meta is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead battery sourcing strategy across our Metaverse, Wearables, and emerging device programs. In this role, you will develop and execute sourcing strategies for battery cells, packs, BMS/BMU, and related sub-systems while partnering with cross-functional engineering and product teams. You will drive supplier innovation, lead complex negotiations, champion cost reduction initiatives, and build executive-level relationships with tier-1 cell suppliers globally.

This position requires technical expertise in lithium-ion battery technologies and manufacturing processes, combined with strategic sourcing leadership to ensure Meta's products are powered by high-performance battery solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain management, business, or equivalent practical experience

* 10+ years of sourcing experience in fast-paced consumer electronics, automotive, or equivalent industry, with direct exposure to battery cell and/or pack sourcing

* Working knowledge in all or any of the following areas: lithium-ion cell chemistry and design, electrode manufacturing, cell assembly and formation, pack/module integration, BMS/BMU, safety standards (UN38.3, UL, IEC), and related battery manufacturing processes

* Experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should-cost modeling, contract negotiation, and supply base management for batteries or comparable high-complexity commodities

* Experience with cost drivers and experience building bottoms-up or should-cost models for battery cells and packs (including raw material, bill-of-process, and capex amortization)

* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel to run supply modeling and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

* Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)

* Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)

* Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

* Experience ramping high-volume consumer electronics or wearable products with battery content

* Established relationships with tier-1 battery cell suppliers

* Experience working with CMs, ODMs, OEMs, and pack houses in the battery domain

* Experience leading or mentoring sourcing teams or cross-functional commodity pods

* MBA or Master of Engineering

Responsibilities

* Develop and implement sourcing strategies for battery cells, packs, BMU/uBMU, and related battery sub-systems, addressing current and future technical and commercial requirements across Metaverse, Wearables, and emerging device programs

* Collaborate with battery engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, product design, and supplier teams to optimize energy density, cycle life, safety, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency for battery assemblies

* Integrate supplier input into the development process by conducting supplier technology roadmap reviews and trade-space evaluations specific to cell chemistry (e.g., Si anode roadmaps), pack architecture, and BMS/BMU technologies

* Drive strategic supply chain direction and innovation with product design and technology operations, focusing on next-generation battery materials, cell formats, and pack integration

* Utilize expertise in battery manufacturing processes (e.g., electrode coating, calendering, winding/stacking, electrolyte filling, formation, aging, pack assembly, welding, BMS integration, safety testing) to assess supplier capabilities, resolve capacity constraints, and validate cost dependencies

* Apply analytical problem-solving to SPOR (Supplier Plan of Record) decisions and complex supply chain issues related to battery sourcing, including multi-source strategies and cell qualification trade-offs

* Lead negotiations for purchase agreements, NRE, capacity reservation, and long-term supply contracts to secure optimal terms and ensure supplier accountability for program deliverables across the battery supply base

* Champion cost reduction programs utilizing should-cost models, raw material indexing (Li, Co, Ni, graphite), and data analytics tailored to cell and pack manufacturing

* Create and implement contingency plans for scalability challenges, lead times, single-source dependencies, raw material volatility, and geopolitical risks in the battery supply chain

* Initiate and execute capacity planning, supplier resourcing, and mass production plans for new products across all lifecycle phases (NPI, MP, sustaining, EOL), with a focus on battery cells and packs

* Develop systems for measuring supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost, technology, responsiveness) and conduct regular business reviews with battery cell and pack suppliers
