Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience working in a hardware design technical environment, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree.
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 1 year of experience in technical leadership.
- Experience with enterprise-class hardware systems design and data center engineering, server, storage, and networking products.
- Experience with FPGA/CPLD design and interfacing with other disciplines, including software, signal integrity, thermal, and mechanical.
- Experience in collecting and organizing details to reproduce results and explain the outcomes.
- Experience solving system issues, technical innovation, and managing technical roadmaps.

As a Senior Hardware Engineer in the Board and System Design team, you will work on ML/AI hardware systems projects to craft solutions for current and future data center deployments. You will collaborate with product teams to ensure that their goals are met with your systems. You will work with ASIC, FPGA, Software, and Verification teams to ensure proper verification of features in your systems.
You will work with manufacturing teams to ensure that your designs are manufactured and ready for volume production. You will work with the field teams to support systems that are deployed in the data center.
Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the hardware and software technologies that power all of Google’s services. Our computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by cutting‑edge custom hardware designed and made in‑house. As a hardware engineer, you will design and build the systems that are the heart of the world’s largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concept all the way through to high‑volume manufacturing.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $159000 - $231000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits
Responsibilities- Gather system requirements, define architecture, execute hardware design, and product validation.
- Lead the bring‑up, validation, NPI, deployment, and sustaining of hardware solutions.
- Work cross‑functionally with Hardware, Software, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, Manufacturing, and external vendors.
- Drive system development from concept through production.
- Lead debug and root cause analysis of deployed systems.
