This is a specialized role which requires physical interaction with hardware equipment in a simulated data center environment, utilizing Google labs, power, and safety equipment. Regular development and processing of engineering hardware must be performed on site.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12 years of experience in electronics packaging, server systems, data center, or related industry.

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
• Experience with mechanical product design and documentation using 3D CAD tools.
• Experience in designing and analyzing with detailed tolerance analysis and tolerance loop methodologies.
• Experience in evaluating and designing infrastructure systems in the IT and data center spaces.

• Act as a “go-to” technical leader with in-depth design and architectural knowledge of IT equipment and data centers culminating towards highly connected machine learning systems.
• Lead projects to resource and enable qualification of products from concept design to final production and deployment, collaborating with cross‑functional leaders and external vendors/partners to maintain and improve design, development, and qualification processes.
• Contribute to overall system architecture from “chip to chiller” to optimize total cost of ownership of overall IT infrastructure, develop holistic designs and architectures from package to data center level optimizing for cost, efficiency, performance, and density.
• Develop appropriate specifications and test procedures to ensure desired reliability and performance of electronic equipment; supervise, mentor, and motivate internal and external teams to achieve excellent product design.

US: $236,000 – $330,000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by factors including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Equity is granted exclusively and discretionarily by Alphabet Inc. on the basis of an agreement concluded between you and Alphabet Inc.
