Mechanical Engineer, Engineering Design & Technologists
Noble Machines (formerly Under Control Robotics) builds multipurpose robots to support human workers in the world's toughest jobs - turning dangerous work from a necessity into a choice. Our work demands reliability, robustness, and readiness for the unexpected - on time, every time. We're assembling a mission-driven team focused on delivering real impact in heavy industry, from construction and mining to energy.
If you're driven to build rugged, reliable products that solve real-world problems, we'd love to talk.
As a mechanical engineer at Noble Machines, you will own and lead the development of advanced electro-mechanical systems powering multipurpose humanoid robots. You will design, build, document, and maintain state-of-the-art hardware systems that enable robots to move freely across diverse environments and perform useful manipulation tasks.
Responsibilities- Lead design and development of mechanical systems across the robot
- Execute structural sizing, mechanism design, hardware fabrication, and testing to deliver project results
- Partner with peer design owners (interfacing systems, avionics, structures) to rapidly deliver integrated systems and subsystems
- Conduct design reviews with stakeholders and customers
- Manage on-site integration teams and implement integration feedback into the design
- Diagnose and operate robot mechanisms during development and deployed operations
- Perform engineering hand calculations and analysis to size structures and mechanisms
- Create detailed models and engineering prints in Solid Works
- Build and prototype systems in the lab
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to drive software-hardware co-design
- Design and build test equipment for subsystem and complete system tests
- 4+ years of total experience in designing and building mechanical structures, including academic and professional work
- Hands-on experience building hardware or a passion for contributing to real-world products
- Demonstrated rapid career growth and the ability to quickly learn new skills and accomplish challenging goals early in your career
- Proficiency with high-end CAD software (NX, CATIA, Solid Works). Solid Works preference
- Experience designing and validating large metallic structures or mechanisms
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Understanding of design for rapid manufacturability, test design, and related considerations
- Strong collaborative skills working with engineers, technicians, and leaders
- Experience working in a production facility with equipment and machinery
- Experience managing large CAD assembly models and drawings
- Experience with finite element analysis
- Experience designing and fabricating mass-efficient structures
- Experience designing and testing mechanisms
- Experience in design and specification of motors and actuators
- Strong understanding and application of GD&T
