As a Systems Development Engineer, you will work with a team of hardware test engineers who are responsible for prototype bring-up, validation, and qualification of server, networking, and optical platforms. You will also be responsible for liaison between engineering design and test teams to ensure lab resources are accounted for and that we are ‘lab-ready’ for new products entering the Research and Development (R&D) labs as well as supporting sustaining and debug efforts.
In addition, you will ensure the labs are well organized and operating in a safe working environment.
Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by cutting‑edge custom hardware designed and made in‑house. As a hardware engineer, you will design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concept all the way through to high-volume manufacturing.
Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting‑edge data centers, affecting millions of Google users.
- Manage work by defining tasks and coordinating activities, deliverables, and schedules.
- Partner with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver network connectivity solutions.
- Assist in maintaining the Platforms Infrastructure Engineering labs across multiple campuses.
- Help troubleshoot and root cause network issues brought up by lab engineers and assist with troubleshooting Linux systems, services, and other lab related issues.
- Configure and deploy network routers, switches, and console servers, including rack and stack and cabling for new lab deployments, including copper and fiber networks.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $132,000 - $190,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits.
