Controls Engineer – Sunnyvale, CA
Lockheed Martin Space – Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) team
Responsibilities- Implement upgrades on existing PLC‑based consoles, including wiring and calibration.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and other Controls Engineers to integrate new technologies into the production flow.
- Verify work by performing system checkouts, provide training and assistance, and support ongoing maintenance of equipment and software; safety is of utmost importance prior to release into production.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- Proficiency with Allen Bradley Control Logix/Compact Logix, Power Flex VFDs, and safety PLC concepts.
- Experience creating/operator interfaces in Factory Talk View SE/ME and Panel View.
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet TCP/IP, Modbus TCP, Ether Net/IP, and industrial network troubleshooting.
- Hands‑on experience programming National Instruments cDAQ/PCI DAQ hardware in LabVIEW (VI development, data logging).
- Familiarity with a variety of industrial sensors and interfacing electronics (force, displacement, temperature, limit switches).
- Ability to read and understand controls schematics, backplane layouts, and wiring.
- Proven understanding of building automated and mechanical systems.
- Combined skills in mechanics & pneumatics.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience using Zuken E3.cable for generating and modifying cable drawings.
- Solid modeling, drafting, and GD&T tolerancing experience.
- Experience with custom motor VFD tuning.
- CAD experience using CREO.
- Experience with server/stepper motors, linear actuators, pneumatics.
- Software/Process multithreading (C#/, XML, Visual Studio, LabVIEW, SQL, PHP, and Linux languages).
- Web services and SQL database experience.
- Experience with programming, robotics, and systems development.
- Experience with IO-Link and OPC UA protocols.
