Electromechanical Engineering Manager

We are looking for an Electromechanical Engineering Manager to join our Spacecraft Flight Cable and Harness Design team. The team supports multiple lines of business at Lockheed Martin and designs wiring systems for missions to Mars and next‑generation GPS satellites.

Location: This position does not support teleworking; you will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in Littleton, CO or Sunnyvale, CA and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full‑time.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with a STEM focus and fundamental principles
  • Prior experience with Cable/Harness design
  • Proficient in Creo Parametric Cabling
  • Prior experience as a technical lead
  • Must be a US Citizen; this position will require the ability to obtain government security clearance
Job Description
  • Provide leadership, functional management, and technical direction to a team of engineers responsible for electromechanical engineering research, design, development, and production support for the Harness Spacecraft Flight Team.
  • Responsible for providing the functional directorate, program management, and their customers’ effective project management, accurate and detailed plans and schedules, and efficient production support.
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop training material for early career engineers and new hires, covering 3D MCAD (Creo Parametric Cabling) best practices, harness design principles, and design for manufacturability.
  • Directly develop and train new team members to achieve proficiency in our software tools and to ensure competence while guiding them toward mastery.
Key Activities You Will Accomplish In This Role
  • Develop, maintain, and administer Spacecraft Harness Design training material to help establish and maintain consistency across our team.
  • Lead a fast paced team from requirements through development and production.
  • Coordinate between functional groups during the product development life cycle.
  • Communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership, and functional leadership as well as externally to the customer.
  • Conduct personnel management for a portion of the Spacecraft Flight team.
  • Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection, and training.
  • Responsible for performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
  • Participate in technical reviews and audits.
To Be Effective In This Role, You Will Need
  • Flight Cable & Harness design or production experience, having led Program Design teams and been sought after as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • While no clearance is needed to start, you will need to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance; US Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills
  • Experience generating training material, instructing others, and providing technical mentorship.
  • Experience with Zuken schematic/cabling drafting tools (or similar) or MCAD software centered in model‑based HARNESS engineering.
  • Collaborate with subsystems, survivability, environmental, and other specialty engineers to develop unique cables for various space products.
  • Cable and Harness production experience or working with production centers.
  • Experience presenting to leadership and customers in design reviews and technical interchange meetings.
