Senior Design Engineer
- Mems Sensors

As a Senior Design Engineer
- Mems Sensors with PCB Piezotronics, Inc., you will be responsible for the design and continuous improvement of Mems Pressure and Acceleration Piezoresistive sensors. The role is responsible for the simulation, design, analysis, fabrication, test, and evaluation of Mems sensors. This Mems Design Engineer will function as the primary technical contributor for the design of new and continuous improvement of existing Mems sensors while also providing technical guidance and support to on-site Mems process engineers.

Significant interaction with other functions across the organization, including third parties, is required.

Additional duties include:

  • Under the auspices of a Lead Engineer, uses independent judgment and creative latitude to design, develop, or modify products of advanced complexity, applying appropriate engineering principles.
  • Simulate, Design, Fabricate, Test, and Evaluate new and improved Mems Sensors
  • Works in close collaboration with Mems production staff in the fabrication, testing, and packaging of products.
  • Uses failure analyses techniques to determine root cause of failure in manufacturing processes and identify potential solutions.
  • Utilizes Design of Experiments techniques to iteratively improve low-yielding manufacturing processes.
  • Interprets complex mechanical drawings, schematics and technical specifications and conducts engineering calculations, investigations, analyses and testing.
  • Creates and maintains accurate mechanical drawings, schematics, layouts, and technical specifications for products including: components, subassemblies and assemblies.
  • Provides technical leadership, guidance and training on products and applications.
  • Provides authoritative technical guidance in matters of applications, products, materials, equipment and processes.
  • Analyzes data and reports to determine if products meet functional/performance requirements.
  • Provides determinations on manufacturability of new product designs.
  • Uses engineering judgment to determine and then to analyze competing product design approaches in materials and construction, many of which may involve novelty.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering software and equipment for advanced applications involving product design and analysis.
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of the causal relationships of product design to performance and product cost and can modify product designs accordingly.
  • Deep and thorough understanding of 6 Sigma methodologies, such as a design (IDOV) and continuous improvement (DMAIC) tools. Willing and able to use (and teach) the tools.
  • Is capable of employing advanced mathematics to problems in engineering, including statistics.
  • Follows PCB NPD procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Education:

    Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience:

    10+ years of Mems design engineering experience (simulation, design, characterization, fabrication techniques, test, evaluation and metrology).…
