Overview
Kforce is adding a full‑time Mechanical Engineer (3D CAD) to support our industry‑leading technology development client in Sunnyvale, CA. Report to the head of the networking Mechanical Team. The role involves mechanical design of rack‑mounted networking products from concept to return‑to‑manufacturer, including design reviews, BOM creation, prototype validation, ECO release, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for rack‑mounted networking products.
- Lead technical decisions, review plans, and write specifications for assigned areas.
- Hold design reviews, manage design data, and maintain design documentation.
- Create and maintain engineering bills of materials (BOM).
- Prototype validation, tolerance analysis, and provide ECO release.
- Coordinate cross‑functional work and resolve technical issues.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies in cooling, interconnect, and other relevant areas.
- Provide project scoping, resource planning, and track deliverables.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferred Solid Works; experience with EPDM is a plus.
- Ability to perform tolerance analysis and possess working knowledge of GD&T and FEA.
- Experience with IDF and ECAD‑MCAD transfer process preferred.
- Knowledge of sheet metal design, manufacturing processes, and tooling for low and mid‑volume production.
- Understanding of hard‑tooling requirements for plastic, aluminum extrusions, and aluminum die cast.
- Strong thermal design skills and familiarity with advanced cooling technologies, including liquid cooling.
- Knowledge of NEBS, EMI issues, EMC, safety, and other product‑specific compliance requirements.
- Ability to create and maintain product development schedules and manage project budgets.
- Excellent communication skills within the department and across functions.
- Experience estimating and maintaining part costs and resources for internal and external vendors.
Pay range: $50,000 – $70,000. Actual compensation depends on education, experience, location, performance, and business needs. This range may be modified. No bonuses, incentives, or commissions.
