We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Systems Engineer to support the Next Gen Geo Overhead Persistent Infra Red (NGG OPIR) program's Functional Test Assembly (FTA) team. As a Level 2 engineer, you will play a critical role in leading the technical development and implementation of test and verification strategies for the NGG OPIR system. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the successful integration, test, and delivery of the program's complex systems and subsystems.
The Next-Gen OPIR satellites are designed to detect and track ballistic missile launches, providing early warning of potential attacks.
The NGG OPIR FTA Lab supports Space Vehicle design, development, qualification, and operations. The NGG FTA uses a combination of flight like hardware, emulations, software, simulations and tools to represent a fully functioning space vehicle on the ground or in orbit. The FTA Lab provides a platform for the development, test, and integration of both hardware (HW) and software (SW) products.
Coordinate and reach out across the program pro-actively to coordinate and resolve complex technical issues affecting lab operations
Perform FTA lab operations on shift, coordinating various test activities in the lab
Participate in technical reviews, including design reviews, test readiness reviews, and test results reviews, to ensure that the system meets technical and performance requirements
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, test procedures, and test reports, to ensure compliance with program requirements and industry standards
Documentation is required to include various processes in the lab
Required to work periodic off-shifts and/or weekend support to meet the NGG program, to include the FTA and Flight Operations Support (FOS) group objectives
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
Background in test and verification, including experience with functional test assembly and integration
Active Secret security clearance
Hands-On Hardware and/or software integration experience
Ability to develop and debug Python scripts
Desired skills
Experience with NGG OPIR or similar space-based systems
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including IEEE, ISO, and DoD standards
Experience with test automation frameworks and tools, such as Python, LabVIEW, or Test Stand
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and identify technical risks
Proficiency with Jira, Structure and/or Agile Hive
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in complex technical environments.
Familiarity with a lab environment
Proficiency in writing test procedures and documentation
Cross-functional engineering experience, such as Electrical, Mechanical, Software and/or Systems Engineering
Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
