Job Description
Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full‑time Electronics Engineer to serve as a GNC Hardware Development Technical Lead for the THAAD missile guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) hardware portfolio. The role focuses on ensuring smooth electronics development across multiple suppliers, collaborating with certified principal engineers, and providing technical oversight for complex systems.
Location: Sunnyvale, CA – onsite only, flexible 9x80 schedule in a full‑time office setting.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as technical lead overseeing design and development of THAAD GNC products.
- Lead requirements and concept development activities.
- Facilitate formal design reviews.
- Conduct development testing and hardware qualification.
- Resolve discrepancies and troubleshoot technical issues in complex electronic systems.
- Support producibility, affordability, performance‑enhancing, and obsolescence‑driven redesigns.
- Experience in electronics design, including FPGAs, CCAs, or PWBs.
- Experience as a Responsible Product Engineer, Certified Principal Engineer, or equivalent technical lead for an electrical package.
- 8+ years of professional experience.
- Active DoD Interim Secret or higher clearance; U.S. citizen required.
- Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience working with external vendors and diverse internal stakeholders.
- Experience with high‑reliability electronics throughout the product lifecycle, especially high‑rate production and post‑production support.
- Previous or current Product/Hardware Engineer or equivalent experience.
- Prior technical leadership experience.
- Active DoD Interim Secret or higher clearance; U.S. citizen.
- Leadership experience handling challenging engineering or programmatic issues.
- Design and analysis of PCB/PWB, CCA, or FPGA, using tools such as Mentor, Cadence, Altium, or Zuken.
- Strong communication skills and experience presenting to peers, leadership, and customers.
- Understanding of missile, launch vehicle, or spacecraft systems.
- Self‑initiative and adaptability in solving complex problems.
- Failure analysis experience on electronic components at unit and system levels.
- Experience with Guidance, Navigation, or Control System hardware.
- Review PCB and assembly drawings for drafting standards, geometric tolerancing, and change‑management packages.
- Full lifecycle hardware development (design, integration, test).
- Use of modeling and analysis tools such as OrCAD, PSPICE, or Saber.
- Knowledge of electronics standards and processes.
- Conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills.
- DoD Secret or higher clearance.
- Willingness to learn new technical domains (thermal, chemical, structures, systems).
