AboutThe Role
This position will support an established Missile Defense program as a Staff-level Guidance, Navigation & Controls (GNC) engineer.
As part of this highly-skilled team, you will be responsible for making strategic technical decisions and working with leadership and junior engineers to deliver results. Demonstrated experience with GNC and Flight Software modeling, architectures and deployment in missile applications is highly desired. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral, are essential. GNC lead experience is a strong plus.
Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations and control laws to achieve a desired position in space.
Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.
Basic Qualifications :
Skill Requirements- Experience with software, simulation and programming tools (ex. MATLAB/Simulink, Fortran, C++, Python)
- Proven experience in the design, integration, qualification, verification, or validation of GNC algorithms for missile applications.
- Ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams by leveraging excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize schedules and tasking to accomplish multiple goals in a fixed time period
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative team environment
- To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
- Active Secret clearance is required to prior to start, and is the minimum level to be considered qualified.
- Selected candidates must maintain a Secret clearance for long term employment on this program.
- GNC lead/management experience with a demonstrated ability to manage complex technical systems and drive fast-paced programs
