Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis
Fortinet is expanding its Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function, a strategic pillar designed to accelerate sales visibility and provide a competitive financial advantage. We are seeking a Manager to join our established team of finance professionals. This role will help advance our FP&A capabilities from traditional expense tracking to a sophisticated, data-driven reporting framework, enabling Sales leadership to manage their business efficiently through clear, consistent guidance on monthly and quarterly financial results.
As a Manager, you will partner with Sales and Finance leadership to support sales headcount planning, commission modeling, and top-line forecasting. You will contribute to the evolution of advanced analytics and automated reporting, helping ensure resource allocation is informed by accurate financial and contribution margin data. You will also support the ongoing governance of the sales expense footprint and provide financial modeling that helps bridge billings to revenue across our hybrid hardware and services model.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Reporting & Revenue Forecasting
- Support the monthly and quarterly financial reporting process for the global Sales organization, providing actuals vs. forecast analysis and contribution margin reporting to help inform resource allocation and business decisions.
- Partner with Sales Operations to understand pipeline and billing forecasts and develop financial models that translate billings into recognized revenue projections.
- Collaborate with the broader FP&A team on financial performance measurement and reporting, integrating ARR and services metrics with the core hardware business to provide a holistic view of the hybrid sales model.
- Identify trends, variances, and opportunities and translate financial data into clear insights for Finance and Sales leadership.
Headcount, Expense & Commission Modeling
- Support financial forecasting and analysis for commission structures and variable compensation, including deferred commission modeling. Evaluate the financial impact of proposed quota and compensation changes.
- Partner with Sales Leadership, Sales Operations, and HR on annual and quarterly headcount planning, monitoring hiring pace, attrition, and sales operating expenses (OpEx).
- Develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools that improve visibility into sales headcount, expenses, commissions, and profitability.
- Leverage advanced analytics, executive dashboards, and AI tools to streamline FP&A workflows, automate reporting, and improve the speed and quality of financial analysis.
Sales Business Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a finance partner for Sales expenses and top-line forecasting, collaborating with Sales, Sales Operations, Human Resources, and Accounting to support data accuracy and month-end close activities.
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners to ensure timely and accurate inputs into monthly and quarterly planning cycles.
- Translate complex financial analysis into clear, actionable business insights for Sales and Finance stakeholders.
- Support Finance leadership in identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and financial visibility across the Sales organization.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience:
5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, or Sales Finance, preferably within a global technology, networking, or cybersecurity company. Experience supporting Sales organizations and operating as a strong individual contributor is preferred. - Education &
Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field. MBA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent advanced degree/certification is a plus. - Industry Knowledge:
Understanding of the cybersecurity or technology business environment, with experience in channel-driven sales models preferred. - Commercial & Financial Acumen:
Strong understanding of bookings, billings, and recognized revenue, with the ability to build and maintain models that accurately reflect revenue conversion across a hardware and services business model. - Technical Proficiency:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required. Experience with enterprise ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP and EPM/financial systems such as Hyperion or Anaplan. Working knowledge of Tableau or similar business intelligence tools is preferred. Experience with SQL or other data analytics tools is a plus. Familiarity with AI/GenAI tools to improve financial workflows is highly desirable. - Collaboration:
Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with Sales, Sales Operations, HR, Accounting, and Finance. - Problem-Solving:
