Engineering Program Manager
Location (HYBRID):
Sunnyvale, CA
Contributes specialized subject‑matter expertise to solve common and moderately complex technical challenges, recommending alternative approaches when necessary. May serve as a project lead and provide guidance to junior team members. Exercises sound independent judgment and collaborates with stakeholders to determine the most effective methods for achieving program goals and deliverables.
Program Leadership & Execution- Lead and manage programs spanning one or more functions and project teams to drive engineering development and implementation for a subsystem or component of a product or service.
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of Software NPI programs, ensuring clearly defined scope, realistic schedules, and strong cost governance across all phases of the lifecycle.
- Partner closely with Development, QA, Documentation, Release Management, and Product Management to ensure successful delivery of committed requirements and realization of program objectives.
- Oversee the full NPI lifecycle—from concept through execution to release—ensuring compliance with phase‑gate criteria, cross‑functional readiness, and alignment across stakeholders.
- Identify technical, resource, supplier, and schedule risks early; develop and execute structured mitigation plans.
- Work with NPI leads to forecast resource requirements, ensure adequate staffing across releases, and support justification for additional budgets or vendor engagement as program needs evolve.
- Ensure adherence to software quality metrics, test coverage expectations, defect management processes, and release build readiness.
- Coordinate with manufacturing partners to support final software qualification and production upgrades.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to develop and support Beta programs for selected customers.
- Deliver clear, concise, data‑driven weekly status reports, dashboards, readiness summaries, risk escalations, and leadership updates with actionable insights.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to less experienced team members.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience.
- Proficiency with project planning and tracking tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, JIRA, Confluence).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven experience coordinating and directing matrixed teams.
- Ability to develop and manage program schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English and local language.
- Strong ability to present program plans, proposals, and results, and to negotiate with management stakeholders.
- Prior experience with networking products (hardware, firmware, operating systems), ideally including management of SONiC development and testing.
- PMP/PMI Certification
