Proofpoint is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Data Center Technician to join our Datacenter Operations team. This role involves supporting the day-to-day operations of our data center, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security of critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with Dell servers, enterprise storage systems, and compliance standards, along with strong troubleshooting skills.

• Install and maintain Dell servers, various storage devices, and networking equipment.
• Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs)
• Understanding of power and cooling systems in a data center environement
• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and perform root cause analysis to resolve hardware and connectivity problems.
• Manage cabling, fiber optics, and patch panels to maintain organized and efficient connectivity.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on data center equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, configurations, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure adherence to data center security protocols, compliance standards (SOC 2, ISO 2700, PCI, Fed Ramp), and environmental requirements.
• Assist with migrations, upgrades, and capacity planning as needed.

• Associate degree in IT – or further Education, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). CompTIA A+, CCNA, data center specific certifications (e.g., CDCTP, DCIE)

• 1–3 years in data center operations, IT support, or related technical role.

• Experience with Dell Power Edge servers and enterprise storage systems.

• Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs).

• Understanding of power and cooling systems in a data center environment.

• Certifications preferred:
  CompTIA A+, Network+, CDCTP.

• Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team, excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
