Edge AI/ML Internship with possibility of regular employment (in office required)

Model Cat has built a SaaS platform that generates optimized AI/ML models for edge/embedded devices. We work with industry leaders such as NXP, Alif Semiconductor and Silicon Labs to deliver ML solutions and are preparing to launch an exciting new product for data scientists targeting the Edge.

We are seeking motivated university students and recent graduates with a passion for Edge AI, embedded systems, and machine learning.

This internship is for a role in our Applications Engineering team. An important thing to note - you’ll be doing real work at Model Cat - we don’t believe in putting our interns to work on science projects or busywork. We offer the possibility of a regular job once your internship is completed and you graduate from your degree course.

In the Applications Engineering Internship role, your task is:

• to understand our customers’ Edge AI/ML problems
• to work with the customers and our technical team to clarify the problem and potential solutions
• to make our customers successful by helping them implement a solution

All of this, using your theoretical and practical knowledge of ML/AI and other traditional engineering techniques. This probably sounds difficult - but you will have a huge advantage: you have Model Cat as the key tool in your armory, providing a 100x amplification of your own capabilities.

This position is open immediately and the duration of the internship is 3 months from your start date.

Please Note: This position will require that you work out of our Sunnyvale, California office, There are no remote work opportunities available at this time.

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. You must have completed coursework in data science and ML techniques, and preferably have some project experience using these technologies.
• Programming skills in Python are essential. Some C/C++ is an advantage.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (Tensor Flow Lite, PyTorch, ONNX, or similar).
• Understanding of lower level system - embedded systems and microcontrollers is a plus (ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V, etc.). Experience with signal processing, DSP, or edge computing is a plus.
• Excellent English language skills are essential, as the job will be conducted primarily in English.
