Senior Manager, Data Science

Position Summary

What you'll do

Model Assessment and Validation requires knowledge of model fit testing, tuning and validation techniques (e.g., Chi-square, ROC curve, RMSE). Assess impact of variables and features on model performance and identify evaluation metrics. Apply best practice techniques for model testing and tuning to assess accuracy, fit, validity and robustness for multistage models and model ensembles.

Data Visualization requires knowledge of visualization guidelines and best practices for complex data types. Utilize multiple data visualization tools (e.g., Python, R libraries; GGplot, Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau, Power BI). Create advanced visualizations and data storytelling. Generate appropriate graphical representations of data and model outcomes tailored to customer requirements and stakeholder needs. Collaborate with User Experience designers and UI engineers as required to build front-end applications.

Present to and influence teams and business audiences using appropriate data visualization frameworks and conveys clear messages through business and stakeholder understanding. Adapt communication style under guidance and mentor junior associates on storytelling techniques based on context.

Understanding Business Context requires knowledge of industry and environmental factors, business vernacular, and domain practices across multiple areas (product, finance, marketing, sales, technology, HR) to provide recommendations to stakeholders and develop domain-specific artifacts. Translate business requirements into projects, activities and tasks aligned to overall strategy.

Analytical Modeling requires knowledge of feature relevance, exploratory data analysis, advanced statistical methods, and modeling techniques (e.g., graphical models, Bayesian inference, NLP basics, vision, neural networks, SVM, Random Forest). Select and develop variables iteratively with business input; conduct exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, and data-driven insights. Develop online model learning and iterative improvements. Guide the team on feature engineering and advanced modeling for complex problems with unstructured data and streaming or text data.

Model Deployment and Scaling requires understanding of model impact, production deployment, and monitoring. Deploy models to production and continuously log and track behavior against defined metrics. Identify parameters needing adjustment at scale.

Code Development and Testing requires knowledge of SQL, Python, Java, and other languages; develop solutions, write tests, and deploy to production. Create documentation, maintain playbooks and provide progress updates.

Tech Problem Formulation involves analyzing business problems, identifying root causes, and proposing technology-focused solutions. Define deliverables and success metrics; quantify business impact. Data Source Identification and Data Strategy cover data categories, sources, quality, governance and data-enabled decision making; ensure data fit for purpose and guide data-driven initiatives.

Other responsibilities include collaboration across teams, data governance awareness, and contributing to a culture of integrity and customer focus.

Minimum Qualifications

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1:
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years’ analytics experience. Option 2:
Master’s degree in same fields and 3 years’ analytics experience. Option 3: 7 years’ analytics experience in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Data science, machine learning, optimization models;
PhD in related fields; successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R; supervisory experience; experience with open source frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, Tensor Flow, PyTorch); experience building accessible digital experiences and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards; accessibility best practices.
