• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
• 8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
• 3 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with global compliance frameworks and accreditation (e.g., Fed Ramp High, ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, AU-ISM, etc.).

• Experience with customer-facing and strategy with excellent technical competency skills.

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

Google Distributed Cloud air‑gapped (GDCag) to meet the compliance regimes under which the Public Sector, Defense Industry, Critical National Infrastructure, Financial Sector and other customers operate, including but not limited to standard frameworks, and establish a governance framework to ensure the continuous compliance of all customers. GDC's air‑gapped solution does not require connectivity to Google Cloud or the public internet to manage the infrastructure, services, APIs, or tooling, and is built to remain disconnected in perpetuity.

It is designed to support strict requirements in alignment with NIST SP 800-53‑FedRAMP high security controls. Integrated cloud services deliver advanced cloud services, including many of our data and machine learning technologies. Open ecosystem built on the Kubernetes API, and uses industry‑leading open source components in the platform and managed services. Flexible hardware options provide customers with industry‑leading flexibility for hardware including general purpose compute and GPUs.

In this role, you will require specialized knowledge of GDC air‑gapped security protocols and architecture, security regulations, security technologies, compliance controls, system‑level designs, special soft skills (careful crafting of complex narratives), certification audits and security assessments, compliance requirements across many different compliance regimes: commercial, U.S. government, foreign governments, ISO, and much more…The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $197,000–$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. • Review and provide inputs about requirements across relevant regulatory frameworks and technical standards and determine their applicability to GDC air gapped.
• Conduct implementation reviews and report on their findings.
• Conduct risk assessments, identify opportunities for compliance process improvements, and lead engineering projects to implement solutions for monitoring, audit tooling, reporting, alerting, and evidence generation/collection.
