Engineering Manager, Continuous Fleet Transformation and Optimization

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in the technology industry, including 4 years of experience managing software developers, systems administrators, or systems architects.
- Experience designing and implementing distributed systems.
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or
C.
- 14 years of experience in the technology industry, including 4 years of direct technical management experience of software developers and systems administrators or architects.
- Experience in Mathematics or operations research.
- Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience with database internals, database language theories, database design, SQL and database programming.
- Guide a full‑stack team through technical issues to achieve scalable and efficient machine and infrastructure planning for Google’s data centers.
- Work closely with the Operations Decision Support, Operations Research, and Discrete Algorithms teams.
- Help scale Google’s infrastructure by managing the fleet with speed, agility, and efficiency.
- Interact with many infrastructure software and operational teams within Cloud and TI, such as Colossus, GIG, ODS, Operations Research, and Optimal Fleet.
- Explore Machine Learning options for fleet management, including Mixed‑Integer Programming and future neural network solutions.
The role is a leadership position within Google’s AI and Infrastructure team, focusing on large‑scale distributed systems and operational efficiency. As an Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership, manage a cross‑functional team, and contribute to product strategy and optimization.
CompensationUS: $207,000 – $301,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits.
