Role Overview
As a Senior Network Test Engineer, you’ll navigate our codebase, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems. You’ll have a significant impact on the quality of our products and services. You’ll use your knowledge of testing and testability to influence better software design, promote proper engineering practice, bug prevention strategies, testability, accessibility, privacy, and other advanced quality concepts across products.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans for GFiber systems and networking devices, including routers, BNGs, OLTs, and GPON/XGSPON.
- Validate performance, scalability, and reliability of service provider networking solutions.
- Work closely with third‑party vendors and operations teams for new production introductions.
- Partner with Network Engineering, QA, and operations teams to identify, debug, and resolve complex issues.
- Develop and automate commonly used workflows and scenarios.
- Oversee the designs and work of several test engineers and/or projects.
- Collaborate across teams to enhance quality and the overall customer experience.
- Work with development teams to instrument workflows and build a comprehensive picture of velocity, coverage, and quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in testing, troubleshooting, automating networking devices such as routers, switches, PON, CPE, and networking‑related enterprise applications.
- Direct testing experience with GPON, XGS‑PON, OLT and EMS verification.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting complex, large‑scale network environments across multi‑vendor environments.
- 2 years of experience in automation coding with Java or Python.
- Experience with testing carrier‑grade telecom networking devices.
- Experience with testing L2/L3 protocols:
Ethernet, VLANs, IP, MPLS, BGP, QoS. - Experience with traffic generators and analyzers such as Ixia/Keysight, OTDR.
- Experience leading automation and manual test efforts for networking devices.
- Familiarity with OSS and BSS systems.
- Experience with cloud networking technologies or optical transport technologies (DWDM, OTN, GPON).
- Experience working with SRE/Field teams to replicate and resolve customer issues.
The US base salary range for this full‑time position is between $180,000 – $198,000 plus bonus and benefits. As pay varies by location, the recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
