Job Overview

Primary Function:
Responsible for supply chain readiness, launch, and scale of new instrument or system platforms.

Job Duties
  • New Product Program Leadership & Category Management
    • Lead cross‑functional teams for new product programs of highest complexity.
    • Develop and execute program roadmaps to achieve cost, capacity, speed‑to‑market, and risk contract goals.
    • Define long‑term supplier strategies and roadmaps.
    • Co‑lead direct procurement supplier selection with Supplier Engineering.
  • Supplier Performance Management
    • Collaborate with supply base to manage demand changes and minimize excess inventory.
    • Escalate and resolve supplier performance issues.
    • Lead supplier escalations for new suppliers to support NPI program deliverables.
  • Risk and Capacity Management
    • Develop mitigation plans for key suppliers and sub‑tier suppliers.
    • Lead capacity assessments and strategy development.
    • Manage project initiatives for supplier capacity or risk mitigation.
  • Contract and Cost Management
    • Negotiate contracts and amendments with suppliers.
    • Establish cost, scale, risk mitigation, and capacity agreements.
    • Identify and implement cost‑reduction ideas.
  • Thought Leadership within Global Supply Chain
    • Monitor industry trends and implement process improvements.
    • Mentor colleagues across the supply chain organization.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Significant experience with new product introduction in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with proven savings track record.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, ERP, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Project management experience in fast‑paced manufacturing settings.
  • Financial acumen with experience building financial models.
  • Knowledge of buying, material planning, master scheduling, & forecasting.
  • Presentation skills to simplify complex topics for senior leadership.
  • Precision, thoroughness, and ability to achieve stretch goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
Required Education and Training

BS degree or equivalent and 15+ years of combined design engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing operations, and/or supply chain experience—including at least 8 years of supply chain experience and 3 years of engineering experience—in a regulated industry manufacturing environment. Master’s degree preferred.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience in the medical device industry or regulated manufacturing.
  • SAP and Agile experience.
  • Experience managing spend/suppliers in metals, rapid prototyping technologies, or motion control categories.
  • Strategic sourcing expertise (six‑step sourcing process, category strategy).
  • Certifications:

    CPSM, CPIM, or PMP.
  • Basic engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) knowledge.
  • Make‑vs‑buy decision & ROI analysis knowledge.
  • Understanding of COGS and cost levers.
Working Conditions
  • Approximately 25% travel to domestic and international suppliers.
Benefits
  • Base salary ranges:
    Region 1 $ 162,100–$233,300;
    Region 2 $ 137,800–$198,300.
  • Day shift, fully onsite.
  • Market‑competitive compensation packages including base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity.
