Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Industrial Engineer based in Sunnyvale, CA to drive data‑driven process improvement and digital transformation within manufacturing operations.

Yes, approximately 10% of the time
- Utilize data analytics to analyze existing operational processes and develop metrics and reporting to optimize program and operational performance.
- Lead efforts as Digital Transformation Champion to align Sunnyvale’s goals with sector and enterprise strategies.
- Create new metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance.
- Analyze lead times, queue times, work‑in‑process, cycle times, and throughput to meet customer demand most effectively and efficiently.
- Build scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow while incorporating cost, schedule, and resource constraints.
- Develop optimized scheduling tools and align SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints.
- Communicate requirements, planning, and systems framework with IT, ERP, business analytics, and data science teams.
- Provide on‑site support for manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, and presentation abilities.
- Use Microsoft Office Excel (including macros, pivot tables, data mining) and/or data visualization software.
- Commit to ethics and compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, data analysis and/or leadership roles; OR master’s degree with 3 years of experience in the same areas.
- Experience in designing visualizations in Tableau.
- Experience with Digital Transformation.
- Experience with time studies and capacity modeling.
- Experience with process control methods (SPC/control charts).
- Experience with process capability analysis (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk).
- Experience with Visio or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience improving manufacturing workflow using optimization, modeling, or simulation methods.
- At least 1 year of demonstrated manufacturing experience.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing methods.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Experience with SAP S/4 HANA Cloud ERP system.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years of experience leading project teams.
- Experience with SQL, Python, VBA, or other programming languages.
- Familiarity with mixed‑model manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with workstation ergonomics.
- Experience with agile methods of project management or development.
Base salary range: $ – $. The range is a general guideline and may vary based on the scope of the position and candidate experience. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives.
