Surface Engineering is expanding its internal machining capabilities and has invested heavily in advanced equipment and production capacity. The company is seeking a highly capable machinist/programmer to take ownership of an advanced Okuma MULTUS mill‑turn platform and help establish long‑term process success.
The Work You'll Be Doing- Program, set up, and run an Okuma MULTUS B‑axis mill‑turn platform
- Establish and improve work holding strategies and machining processes
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for highly complex round components with hundreds of machined features
- Work closely with operators and support personnel assigned to the machine
- Troubleshoot setups, tooling, cycle times, and process improvements
- Perform first‑article and in‑process inspection
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams
- Support Fanuc robotic automation initiatives when applicable
- Help move operations toward increasingly automated lights‑out production
Machines:
- Okuma MULTUS mill‑turn platform
- Fanuc robotic automation cell
- Diamond turning equipment
- Multi‑axis turning centers
Controls:
- Okuma OSP‑300 preferred
- Similar backgrounds welcome:
Mazak Integrex, Nakamura, advanced mill‑turn platforms
CAM Software:
- Esprit
- Fusion 360
Inspection Equipment:
- Advanced inspection and metrology systems
- Strong quality department and support resources
- Aluminum (~75%)
- Titanium
- Stainless steel
Required:
- 7+ years of CNC machining experience
- Strong mill‑turn setup and programming experience
- Ability to independently establish work holding and machining strategy
- Experience with complex multi‑axis machining environments
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
- Experience troubleshooting tooling and machining processes
- Comfortable owning a machine and driving process improvements
- Reliable, curious, and highly team‑oriented
- Okuma MULTUS experience
- OSP‑300 control experience
- Mazak Integrex or Nakamura mill‑turn background
- Esprit or Fusion 360 experience
- Fanuc robotics exposure
- Automation or lights‑out manufacturing experience
- Average employee tenure approximately 7 years, with some staying over 30 years
- Temperature‑controlled facility
- Stable production environment with repeat work
- Extremely challenging and technical machining

Pay Range: $60+/hr DOE
Bonus Structure:
- Up to 10% annual bonus potential
- Paid as two bonus opportunities of up to 5% each year
