Prototype​/Assembly Technician

We are seeking a Prototype/Assembly Technician for a 12-month contract role based in Sunnyvale, California. This position combines prototype rework, repair, assembly, quality assurance, and electrical testing to support product development and validation.

• Assess the condition of returned prototype units, confirm failure modes, and perform root-cause failure analysis
• Run prototype units through prescribed functional tests based on reported defects
• Strategically disassemble units according to standard operating procedures and perform visual inspections of systems related to failure symptoms
• Perform component and module exchanges to isolate failures
• Document work performed on each unit in a thorough and consistent manner
• Assist with scaled prototype assembly and disassembly, as well as small pre-production units in varying quantities
• Flash, program, and calibrate prototypes and testing equipment following established SOPs
• Run software scripts and basic commands using command line interfaces on Linux, macOS, and PC platforms
• Use electronic analysis tools to perform systematic quality control of electronic assemblies
• Perform light soldering to repair electrical components
• Communicate findings and solutions with design engineering teams through clear written and verbal documentation
• Identify quality variations and anomalies, and propose appropriate solutions
• Use text, photos, and videos to clearly convey assembly processes and findings to team members
• Propose and implement process improvements, including updates to SOPs, to increase production efficiency

• Required
  • Ability to adapt to daily changing statements of work
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks to complete a given statement of work
  • Experience reaching out to design engineers for troubleshooting, clarification, and feedback
  • Willingness to propose and implement process improvements, including SOPs, to increase production efficiency
  • Proficient use of text, photos, and videos to clearly convey assembly processes
  • Openness to seeking feedback for continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with AB tools
