Store Protection Specialist

General Purpose

This position provides a visible presence at store entrances/exits, mitigating theft and fraud and maintaining a safe and secure environment for associates and customers. The Specialist greets customers, deters theft by demonstrating "command" presence in a company‑issued vest, and monitors Code 50 package inspection policy. They walk the sales floor to identify and address potential theft indicators, partner with store leadership to ensure compliance with loss prevention directives, and minimize operational shortage.

• Understand that safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors and assists store leadership to maintain a safe environment.
• Provide a visible "command" presence, including greetings and eye contact, at entrances/exits and the sales floor in a company‑issued vest.
• Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
• Provide great customer service by greeting customers, making eye contact, smiling, and answering questions in a friendly manner.
• Treat all customers and associates with respect and demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
• Recognize associates using company recognition programs.
• Regularly participate with internal and external partners (conference calls, meetings, education, recognition).
• Support loss prevention initiatives as assigned.
• Represent and support the company brand at all times and maintain a professional appearance per dress code.
• Monitor entrances/exits and sales floor for theft indicators and gather intelligence to impact shortage trends.
• Communicate findings to store leadership and loss prevention leadership and adhere to external theft response policy.
• Execute company best practices to maximize productivity while reducing steps and touches.
• Increase store awareness of effective processes and train associates on shortage reduction initiatives.
• Observe and validate proper checkout procedures for customers and associates.

• High school education or equivalent required;
  Associate's degree preferred.
• One year of retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
• One year of loss prevention/security training preferred.
• Active security guard license preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proven ability to effectively resolve conflict.
• Must comply with all applicable federal and state laws, including background screening, physical examination, fingerprinting, and drug/alcohol testing.

• Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
• Must be able to lift or lower objects more than 25 lbs. from one level to another.
• Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch.
• Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.

Base pay range for this role is $20.00 - $20.50 per hour, contingent on experience, qualifications, location, and other factors.
