- The Scientist I, Manufacturing Sciences, will be responsible for the synthesis of functionalized resins used in columns.
- The role involves using manufacturing protocols to accurately synthesize raw and functionalized resins for column production for HPLC and following established procedures for polymer chemistry synthesis.
- Use manufacturing protocols to accurately synthesize raw and functionalized resins for column production for HPLC.
- Follow established procedures to perform standard polymer chemistry synthesis such as ATRP, grafting, polymerizations, etc.
- Address and report problems in daily manufacturing and propose effective countermeasures.
- Communicate effectively with other production staff regarding delays, issues in production, etc.
- Present findings and results while interacting efficiently in a cross-functional setting between several departments including R&D, Process Development, Product Management, etc.
- Collaborate in PPI initiatives to improve overall quality and yields of various synthesized resins.
- Participate in 5S, JDI, and Safety initiatives.
- 0-1 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Direct experience with polymer chemistry and analytical chemistry.
- Experience with chromatography systems and analytical chemistry is a plus.
- Polymer chemistry synthesis experience including ATRP, grafting, and polymerizations.
- Experience with chromatography software and H/UPLC.
- Ability to perform routine analysis on size distribution and surface area of resins.
- Ability to interpret chromatograms from HPLC/UPLC and GC-MS.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing environments and standard chemistry techniques and principles.
- Familiarity working with standard software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with generating and following quality control documents or procedures in compliance with ISO
9001 quality standards.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with production staff and other departments.
- Familiarity with chromatography systems and analytical chemistry practices.
