This staff engineer will be part of the "Authentication Experiences" team. The team works on making sure good users can get in and keeping bad actors out through development of "challenges" or experiences that determine whether a user is the legitimate owner of an account.

The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a Linked In office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

Responsibilities

  • You will define, measure, and iterate on key product metrics related to adversarial actions.
  • You will work with product and stakeholder teams to create and influence the roadmap.
  • You will develop multi-tier product experiences that are scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric and operating 24x7.
  • You will scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, write code, and deliver with speediness and quality.
  • You will produce high quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
  • You will provide technical leadership, driving and performing best engineering practices to initiate, plan, and execute large-scale, cross functional, and company-wide critical programs. Identify, leverage, and successfully evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.
  • 4+ years experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
  • 4+ years programming experience in object-oriented programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Java script, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, or Ruby.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of taking product features from concept to launch, with a focus on product ownership and customer empathy.
  • Experience building engineering solutions related to adversarial actions, security, trust, authentication and authorization domains
  • Expert knowledge of computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  • Experience in creating experiences that work in Web and Mobile.
  • Experience in using AI for coding and debugging.
  • Experience with relational databases (transactional and non-transactional), database architecture, and distributed transaction management.

Linked In is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $152,000 - $248,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
