Description

As a Video Pipeline Engineer on the Reality Kit team, you'll architect and implement high-performance rendering systems that power immersive spatial media experiences across vision

OS and Apple Vision Pro. You'll develop cutting-edge GPU pipelines for spatial photo and video playback, optimize real-time rendering of 3D content with advanced techniques like foveated rendering and temporal reprojection, and collaborate closely with media frameworks, Metal, and hardware teams to maximize visual quality while maintaining smooth performance. Your work will span the full rendering stack—from low-level shader optimization and memory management to high-level API design—ensuring developers have powerful, intuitive tools to create stunning spatial experiences.

You'll tackle complex challenges like efficient multi-view rendering and seamless integration of spatial media with virtual content, all while maintaining Apple's uncompromising standards for performance and user experience.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement high-performance rendering pipelines for spatial photos, videos, and 3D media in Reality Kit
  • Optimize GPU shaders and rendering algorithms to achieve exceptional visual quality and frame rates on Apple silicon
  • Build intuitive APIs that enable developers to seamlessly integrate spatial media into vision

    OS applications
  • Profile and debug complex rendering issues across the graphics stack using Instruments and GPU debugging tools
  • Prototype innovative rendering features for future vision products and evaluate emerging graphics technologies
  • Write comprehensive unit tests and performance benchmarks to ensure rendering quality and stability
  • Contribute to technical specifications and documentation for spatial media rendering capabilities
  • Mentor engineers and conduct code reviews to maintain exceptional engineering standards
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience in video rendering, media playback systems, or real-time graphics programming
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and shader programming languages (Metal Shading Language, GLSL, or HLSL)
  • Solid understanding of modern graphics APIs (Metal, Vulkan, or Direct

    X 12) and GPU architecture
  • Understanding of GPU texture management and efficient frame buffer handling
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex rendering issues
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience shipping video rendering features in high-profile consumer products
  • Expert knowledge of HDR video formats, wide color gamut workflows, and advanced tone mapping techniques
