Software Engineer - Frontend Web Development

Position Summary

As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle with a focus on cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to translate complex business needs into actionable solutions. • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
• Drive full software development lifecycle activities like coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
• Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure quality and alignment with architectural standards.
• Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate across teams to define technical requirements and optimize development processes using data-driven practices.

• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
• Strong experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
• Employ performance, A/B tests, web vitals, front end optimization regularly.
• Proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to apply data-driven decision making to define success metrics and optimize engineering processes.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions to promote technical excellence and sustainability.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams, communicating complex technical concepts clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years' experience in software engineering.
