About the Role
Crowd Strike’s Lightning Team is seeking a Senior Software Developer to build and evolve cloud‑based services that deliver near‑real‑time threat information to endpoint agents on a global scale. The role focuses on designing, developing, and scaling high‑quality systems primarily in Go, with additional work in Python and supporting technologies. You’ll collaborate across multiple teams to architect resilient, high‑throughput services under tight latency constraints.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Build and evolve cloud‑based systems to detect and disrupt targeted attacks at a global scale.
- Brainstorm, design, and collaborate with members across multiple teams.
- Develop elegant and performant solutions for complex technical problems in Go.
- Read and critique code in multiple languages (Go, Python, Unix shell, etc.) and provide technical guidance to teammates.
- Focus on continual learning and raise the bar for yourself and your peers.
- Apply engineering best practices, including testing, code reviews, logging, and resilient architecture patterns, to ensure clean code.
- Take ownership of deliverables, leading the team when appropriate.
- Deliver and accept feedback with grace and courtesy.
- Investigate production outages, determine root causes, and implement improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Participate in occasional in‑person meetings and travel as required.
- Computer science background or equivalent experience with at least 5+ years building backend systems in a SaaS, cloud platform, or SOA environment.
- 8+ years of experience designing and scaling production backend systems.
- Expertise in at least one of:
Golang, Python, Java, Kotlin, Scala. - Strong experience in a cloud‑distributed systems stack (Kubernetes, Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, etc.).
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges.
- Prior experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure, especially compute and storage offerings.
- Team‑player mindset with a collaborative focus.
- Experience developing and deploying into Linux environments.
- Sense of humor and sense of humility.
- Experience building, operating, validating, and scaling low‑latency internet services.
- Experience shipping cloud‑connected endpoint software.
- Experience with scalable microservices architectures.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Exposure to or experience with cybersecurity and threat intelligence.
