Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer, Matterport
About Matterport:
Matterport is leading the digital transformation of the built world. Our groundbreaking spatial computing platform turns buildings into data, making every space more valuable and accessible. Millions of buildings in more than 170 countries have been transformed into immersive Matterport digital twins to improve every part of the building lifecycle from planning, construction, and operations to documentation, appraisal, and marketing.
The Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer will own the software, automation, and data systems that power Matterport’s manufacturing test infrastructure from early NPI through high‑volume production.
ResponsibilitiesDefine and own the software architecture for manufacturing test stations including traceability systems, data collection pipelines, device communication layers, and automation frameworks from NPI through high‑volume production.
Architect and prototype modular test software frameworks including APIs, instrument abstraction layers, data logging schemas, versioning systems, and deployment pipelines; deliver critical station software ahead of EVT builds.
Support root cause analysis of manufacturing test failures by analyzing test logs, system behavior, hardware performance, and process trends in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
Implement automated test software including device comms, result logging, production dashboards, and failure diagnostics; establish CI/CD and release flow to support structured EVT debug and ongoing software iteration.
Partner with hardware, firmware, product, and manufacturing teams to define test requirements, station behavior, pass/fail criteria, and production release readiness.
Develop and maintain tools for test sequencing, instrumentation control, results logging, traceability, and yield analysis.
Harden test software for production: add robust error handling, retry/recovery logic, and comprehensive failure diagnostics; validate traceability and reporting pipelines; lock the software release process ahead of DVT exit.
Drive structured software validation and qualification of test stations prior to deployment, including GR&R support, data review, uptime verification, and confirmation that error handling and pass/fail logic meet production requirements.
Analyze production data to identify failure trends, systematic escapes, station issues, and opportunities to improve yield and test robustness.
Lead software deployment to contract manufacturers: support multi‑line rollout, enable remote debug capabilities, establish monitoring and alerting infrastructure, build data pipeline scaling plan, and own the software sustainment process through PVT.
Create and maintain documentation for test software, station architecture, validation results, debug procedures, and manufacturing release processes.
Maintain release stability post‑launch: manage version control by line and site, lead software bug triage, support yield analysis, and drive rapid containment fixes in response to production escapes or field signals.
