Position Summary

Walmart's Item & Supply Chain Technology (CSIS) services is responsible for enabling the core services and systems that support our partners to set up catalog at scale to be sold through various Walmart selling channels both online and in stores in the eCommerce environment, and to provide a frictionless buying experience for customers with high confidence based on high-quality product content.

What you’ll do
  • Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross‑functional projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wireframes); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with the project team and cross‑functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug‑fixes; enhancing design to prevent reoccurrences of defects;

    ensuring on‑time delivery and hand‑offs; interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan; and providing leadership to the project team.
  • Identifying short- and long‑term solutions and timeline; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes.
  • Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high‑level design by partnering with the product management, web operations, project management, business and user experience teams; obtaining cross‑function approvals; driving proof‑of‑concept; and implementing prototypes to validate ideas.
  • Utilizes industry research to improve Walmart’s technology environment by analyzing industry best practices; benchmarking industry against internal processes and solutions; researching or influencing future industry solutions for fit with internal needs; and defining software development guidelines, standards and processes. Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards.
  • Drives technical vision and influences product roadmap and vision.
  • Implement large‑scale, complex, cross‑functional projects.
  • Directs root cause analysis of critical business and production issues.
  • Documents testing and maintenance of application corrections and improvements.
  • Supports business objectives and ensures the business needs are being met.
  • Immigration Sponsorship support will NOT be available for this position.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development preferable in retail using Java technologies.
  • 5+ years of programming experience in architecting highly scalable and performing applications.
  • 5+ years of experience with two or more open‑source technologies (Kafka, Spark, Cassandra, Solr, Elastic, etc.).
  • 4+ years of developing/architecting high‑transaction, high‑throughput systems is a must.
  • 3+ years of experience of highly scalable RESTful API/micro‑services.
  • 2+ years of experience with Scala preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in agile ways of working in a distributed geographical model.
  • 2+ years of experience in Hadoop, Hive, GCP, Spark Streaming.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and experience implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
