Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python (Golang a plus))

Hybrid: 2 days in office/week in Sunnyvale, CA

In this role, you will focus on the Azure Firewall Management Program over the next year, working with Illumio's Core product and Cloud Secure to deliver customer‑facing products and initiatives.

• Drive integration of firewall management security frameworks into Illumio’s ecosystem using Go/Golang.
• Develop and maintain networking‑focused services in cloud environments such as AWS.
• Build and deploy APIs, ensuring secure and robust networking operations.
• Collaborate with product management for requirements clarification, scoping, and locking.
• Own critical features and subsystems throughout the full software development lifecycle.

• Go/Golang coding experience.
• Cloud experience in Azure or AWS.
• Networking expertise, especially security networking.
• Experience building and deploying APIs.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent (Master’s preferred).
• 3+ years building distributed and scalable software and systems.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Spring ecosystem is a plus.
• Familiarity with Gang of Four design patterns.
