• Experience with firmware, operating systems, flash memory, storage systems, or PCIe.

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

Software Engineering Managers at Google not only provide technical leadership to major projects but also manage a team of engineers. You will guide a team of software engineers in an evolving environment, balancing horizontal responsibilities such as storage components and subsystems and vertical responsibilities such as project and product development. You will manage technical projects from conceptualization and planning through execution and release, contribute to product strategy, and help develop your team.

The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what’s possible, delivering unprecedented efficiency, reliability, and velocity. The team works across areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, and user interface design.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US salary: $207,000 – $301,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits.

• Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization’s goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
• Establish clear expectations with individuals based on level and role aligned to organization goals. Meet regularly to discuss performance and development, provide feedback and coaching.
• Develop the mid‑term technical goal and roadmap within the scope of your teams. Evolve the roadmap to meet future requirements and infrastructure needs.
• Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the broader area, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (style guidelines, code quality, testability, efficiency).
