Java Backend Engineer - Lead II
UST is looking for a strong Java backend engineer to work on a multi‑vendor, multi‑geo team to build a Next Gen High Scale Enterprise Platform.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain robust Java‑based applications using strong OOP principles and industry‑standard design patterns.
- Build and implement scalable microservices architecture, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
- Develop Spring Boot applications with expertise in dependency injection, RESTful API development, and ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA).
- Design and consume REST APIs for seamless integration between services and external systems.
- Deploy and manage applications on Microsoft Azure, including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, and Cosmos DB.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain efficient SQL queries, ensuring data integrity, performance tuning, and adherence to industry standards.
- Implement and follow CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure Dev Ops or Jenkins for automated builds, unit and integration testing, and continuous deployment.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Development, QA, Dev Ops) to ensure smooth release cycles and production stability.
- Perform code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting complex technical issues in real‑time.
- Participate in hands‑on coding exercises and problem‑solving sessions, demonstrating strong logical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines throughout the development lifecycle.
- Effectively communicate technical concepts, project updates, and solutions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Continuously learn and adopt new tools, frameworks, and cloud best practices to improve system design and development efficiency.
- 5–6 years of hands‑on experience in Java development at enterprise level (recent); experience with Java 18 or above is mandatory.
- 3–4 years of hands‑on experience with Kafka.
- 2–3 years of solid experience with Kubernetes.
- Strong programming skills in Java, including OOP principles, design patterns, and familiarity with Java frameworks.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and experience building and deploying microservices‑based applications.
- Hands‑on experience developing Spring Boot applications, including dependency injection, ORM, and REST API development.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform, including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL or Cosmos DB.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) practices, including automated testing, build pipelines, and deployment strategies.
- Proficiency in writing SQL queries according to industry standards, fine‑tuned for optimization.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities, good communication (written & verbal), and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Nice to have:
Azure or GCP experience. - Nice to have:

Location:
California
Salary range: $82,000 – $123,000 per year.
