Position Summary
Senior Software Engineer (Back End) for Walmart Catalog Engineering Team. Responsible for designing, building, and scaling high-performance catalog services that serve millions of Walmart customers.

What you’ll do- Design and develop highly scalable services, solving complex software system problems using state-of-the-art technology.
- Lead by example as an experienced developer, contributing code reviews and architectural decisions.
- Troubleshoot business and production issues, gather information, and collaborate with support teams to resolve problems.
- Perform root cause analysis to prevent future incidents and ensure compliance with Walmart’s code of conduct.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Work in an Agile environment, adhering to best practices and collaborating cross‑functionally to deliver results.
- Keep up to date with GenAI trends and technologies, contributing innovative solutions that enhance the Seller and Supplier experience.
- Participate in medium to large scale, complex projects: translating requirements into technical solutions, designing robust architectures, writing code, unit‑testing, and communicating status to stakeholders.
- Expert‑level knowledge of Java and experience building Java‑based backend systems.
- Experience building microservices with Spring Boot, Spring Web Flux, Project Reactor.
- Experience with internet‑scale distributed technologies such as Solr, Kafka, Memcache.
- Deep understanding of the Spark engine.
- Strong knowledge of J2EE components, multithreading, and networking.
- Extensive knowledge of offline storage, caching, and performance tuning.
- Experience with cloud‑based solutions and CI/CD tools:
Git, Maven, Jenkins. - Strong foundation in CS fundamentals, microservices, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving.
- Familiarity with GenAI best practices.
- Experience with No
SQL databases (Cosmos DB, Cassandra) and designing scalable data models. - Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
- Understanding of Dev Ops practices, continuous integration, delivery, and monitoring.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 3 years of software engineering experience.
- OR 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Experience creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
- Understanding of accessibility best practices and Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines.
