Software Engineer - Support Analyst II

We are seeking an enthusiastic Software Test Engineer to join our networking and IP services team. The role is onsite, primarily based at an HPE office.

Collaborate closely with Product Marketing, Software Engineering, and Hardware Development teams to validate next‑generation networking solutions. Develop comprehensive test strategies, execute and automate test cases, identify and troubleshoot issues, and ensure product quality through robust regression testing.

• Partner with teams to review product requirements and design specifications.
• Develop detailed functional test plans and test cases based on product requirements.
• Execute manual and automated test cases to validate product functionality, performance, and reliability.
• Identify, document, and track software and hardware defects using bug tracking systems.
• Work closely with development teams to analyze, debug, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts to improve test coverage and efficiency.
• Integrate automated test suites into continuous integration and regression testing workflows.
• Participate in test reviews and provide feedback on product quality, risks, and release readiness.
• Contribute to process improvements that enhance testing effectiveness and product quality.

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with at least 1 year of experience in software testing for networking and IP services products; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with at least 2 years of experience in software testing for networking and IP services products.

• Experience with high‑speed networking technologies and Ethernet protocols.
• Knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking features, including QoS, Load Balancing, Open Config Telemetry, P4 Runtime, and firewall technologies.
• Familiarity with routing and transport protocols such as OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP, multicast, L2
  
  VPN, L3
  
  VPN, and VPLS.
• Hardware platform qualification and validation testing for new networking products.
• Test automation using Python and Robot Framework.
• Experience in FreeBSD, Linux, and virtualized environments.
• Hands‑on experience with network test equipment such as Ixia and Spirent.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, proactive, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies, including white‑box, black‑box, integration, system, and solution testing.

Hourly Salary (California): $34.47 - $69.86 per hour.
