Software Engineer, Cloud​/Backend - SCP; Hybrid

About the Role

Crowd Strike is looking for a Cloud Engineer to join our growing Sensor Foundations team. The cloud side of the Sensor Foundations team works in conjunction with on‑endpoint code to detect security problems and incidents, automatically stop adversaries in their tracks, and provide actionable data to customers. You will help build the next generation of cloud‑side detections processing, evolving near‑real‑time endpoint‑to‑cloud communications, and integrating new machine‑learning models.

This is a hybrid role based out of either our offices in Sunnyvale, CA (Bay Area) or Redmond, WA (Seattle Area) with the expectation of at least two days in office per week.

• Leverage and build cloud‑based systems to detect targeted attacks at a global scale.
• Brainstorm, design, and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams.
• Mentor and help fellow Crowd Strike engineers grow.
• Deliver and accept feedback with grace and courtesy.
• Build elegant solutions for complex technical problems in Go.
• Read code in multiple programming languages used in our environment (Go, Python, Unix shell, among others).
• Focus on continual learning and raise the bar for yourself and teammates.
• Apply engineering best practices such as testing, code reviews, logging, and resilient architecture patterns.
• Take ownership and be accountable for deliverables, both individually and when leading a team.

• Must be eligible for CJIS clearance (requires U.S. citizenship or Green Card/permanent resident status).
• A computer science background or equivalent experience (programming styles, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, etc.).
• Eight or more years of experience building and scaling back‑end systems in production.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges.
• Experience with Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch/Open Search, and Redis/Valkey.
• Prior experience with Go, Scala, Python, Java, C#, or C++.
• Prior experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or OCI, particularly compute and storage offerings.
• Prior experience with Apache Flink or other stream processing systems is a plus.
• Experience developing and deploying into Linux.
• Team player skills – we embrace collaboration.

• Computer and/or network security experience.
• Implementation experience with Go and Python.
• Experience working within scalable microservices architectures.
• Experience with containerization and container orchestration technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Placement within the pay range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location. The base salary range for this position for all U.S. candidates is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.
