Engineering Manager, Continuous Fleet Transformation and Optimization

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in the technology industry, including 4 years of experience managing software developers, systems administrators, or systems architects.
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems.
• Experience programming in one of the following:
  Java, C++, Python or
  
  C.

• 14 years of experience in the technology industry, including 4 years of direct technical management experience of software developers and systems administrators or architects.
• Experience in Mathematics or operations research.
• Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience with database internals, database language theories, database design, SQL and database programming.

• Guide a full‑stack team through technical issues towards our mission of scalable and efficient machine and infrastructure planning for Google’s data centers.
• Work closely with the brilliant minds in the Operations Decision Support, Operations Research, and Discrete Algorithms teams.
• Help scale Google’s infrastructure by learning how Google manages the fleet with speed, agility, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with many infrastructure software and operational teams within Cloud and TI such as Colossus, GIG, ODS, Operations Research, and Optimal Fleet.
• Explore machine‑learning options to support fleet management, with a long‑term vision of an all‑knowing neural network.
