These roles support Project Sparky, an AI-powered chat assistant for iOS and Android platforms that helps users manage everyday shopping tasks by remembering preferences and past interactions to streamline repeat activities. The project is deeply rooted in generative AI and creating the groundwork to move towards agentic AI by enabling personalized, context-aware assistance that evolves with user behavior.

• Lead the discovery phase of large Mobile Engineering projects by collaborating with cross‑functional teams to determine project strategy, interpret strategy into sustainable mobile solutions, drive prototype development to ensure concept is feasible, and implement prototypes to validate projects.
• Collaborate closely with service teams to define end‑to‑end architecture for reusable mobile (iOS/Android) widgets and create blueprints with appropriate integration patterns for consumption by various Walmart Mobile Products.
• Troubleshoot business and production issues for mobile devices by analyzing impact, criticality, root causes; engage support teams; formulate action plans; perform root‑cause analysis across multiple mobile devices to prevent recurrence.
• Lead project teams for Mobile Engineering projects by providing direction regarding project plan, identifying solutions and timelines, providing guidance on issues or roadblocks, reviewing & approving proposed solutions, implementing new architectural patterns, and performing design & code reviews.
• Develop innovative mobile technology solutions and strategies to support business objectives by collaborating with cross‑functional partners; assess opportunities; benchmark best practices; forecast future technologies; drive high‑priority initiatives; identify & implement solutions; influence decision‑makers; and define software development guidelines, standards and processes.
• Lead medium‑to‑large‑scale, complex, cross‑functional projects across iPhone, Android platforms; gather required information; write & develop code (e.g., JavaScript) applicable to multiple devices; integrate solutions across operating systems; develop UIs; conduct testing; communicate status; ensure on‑time delivery and collaborate with project managers on implementation plans.
• Execute multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; develop & communicate priorities; remove barriers; provide resources; set performance standards; measure progress; adjust performance; develop contingencies; demonstrate adaptability and support continuous learning.
• Provide supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting, training, mentoring, assigning duties; building teamwork; establishing performance expectations; conducting evaluations; recognizing efforts; coaching for success; and ensuring diversity awareness.
• Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values and ethical standards by training others; ensuring compliance; supporting Open Door Policy.
• Ensure business needs are met by evaluating effectiveness of current plans, consulting stakeholders, soliciting improvements in efficiency & cost effectiveness; and participating in community outreach.

• MS in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).
• 20+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 15+ years of experience building Mobile products and platforms.
• 15+ years of iOS/Android platform experience.
• 10+ years of programming in Swift/Kotlin.
• 5+ years collaborating with AI/ML teams.
• Deep understanding of various aspects of Mobile App Development.
• Experience integrating with REST‑based backend services.
• Experience working with large codebases and driving large projects.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing across the organization.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Good problem‑solving attitude and analytical skills.

• Experience developing Rich Media Content or Conversational Applications for iOS/Android.
• Experience in Game Design, 3D modelling, 3D computer graphics, OpenGL.
