At Carbon, our mission goes beyond 3D printing. We are enabling creators everywhere to make what the world needs, right now. Our company is built on the idea that diverse fields of study must come together to solve intractable problems. We have grand ambitions to create technology that will influence industry around the world.
Help us change the world and we will help you change yours.
Working at the intersection of hardware, software, and molecular science, Carbon is committed to delivering on the promise of 3D printing, enabling commercial customers to go beyond basic prototyping to produce products with real‑world applications.
You’ll be joining a close‑knit team, working with experts in 3D geometry, web technologies, Linux, and everything in between.
This role is based in our Sunnyvale, CA location and is onsite Monday–Friday. This role is not eligible for current Visa sponsorship. This role is not eligible for relocation.
Job Responsibilities- Build high‑impact web applications
:
Design and ship customer‑facing web apps that integrate with our Tier‑0 services (Fleet Management, Auth, and Core APIs), helping keep the foundational systems that power our global printer network resilient as new features are added. - Create modern APIs
:
Design and build REST and gRPC interfaces that power our web applications and expose platform capabilities to other teams. Care about clean data contracts, thoughtful versioning, and building services others can rely on. - Scale web‑to‑backend systems
:
Own significant portions of our front‑end and cloud integration. Work with GCP and scalable database architectures to build and grow the "Web‑to‑Edge" bridge, keeping the platform responsive as data volume and printer count climb. - Have deep React expertise
:
Bring very strong React and modern front‑end skills to complex, data‑heavy interfaces. Build dashboards, control systems that require thoughtful state management and high‑performance rendering. - Own features end‑to‑end
:
Take major initiatives from design through production. Contribute to architectural decisions, select the right technologies for the job, and ship code that scales with the business. - Bring agency and a learning mindset
:
Jump in where the work is. When a problem crosses into an unfamiliar part of the stack, pick it up, learn quickly, and get it done rather than waiting for the right person. - Collaborate and mentor
:
Partner closely with product managers to translate customer needs into robust software designs. Support more junior engineers through code review, pairing, and design feedback, and bring your perspective to team‑wide design reviews.

- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong React and modern front‑end skills, with deep experience in component architecture, state management, and performance optimization.
- Proven experience building and shipping web applications that integrate with backend services (REST/gRPC APIs, auth, real‑time data).
- Experience designing and building production APIs (REST, gRPC, or similar) that other applications or clients consume.
- Experience scaling a web application in production, whether that means performance, larger data volumes, or a growing user base.
- Working knowledge of at least one modern backend language (Go, Python, Java, C++, Type Script/Node, etc.), comfortable reading and contributing to backend code when needed.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure equivalent) and modern database architectures.
