We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer / Technical Lead to join Walmart's engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin, along with proven technical leadership experience delivering complex projects.

The selected candidate will work on Lists and Registry experiences within Walmart's Android applications and collaborate closely with product, design, and platform teams.

• Design and implement sophisticated features for Walmart's Android applications.
• Work closely with product and design teams to optimize the Android user experience.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize Android applications for performance and reliability.
• Experiment with new technologies and features and develop quick prototypes.
• Manage code and configurations across multiple environments.
• Participate in release management and maintain environment configurations and controls.
• Ensure code integrity and collaborate closely with platform teams.
• Analyze business requirements, storyboards, and other Agile/Scrum artifacts.
• Lead the discovery phase of medium-to-large projects and develop high-level technical designs.
• Lead the work of small engineering teams of approximately 3–5 engineers.
• Troubleshoot business and production issues and provide effective solutions.
• Incorporate business vision and industry trends into technical solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Apply standard tools and best practices for code optimization and testing.
• Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical cross-functional teams.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, challenging, and iterative development environment.

• 4+ years of experience building native Android applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Kotlin.
• Experience serving as a Technical Lead for an engineering team.
• Proven experience playing a significant technical/lead role in delivering complex projects.
• Experience shipping one or more Android applications that are currently available on the Google Play Store.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.

• Experience with JavaScript / React Native.
• Server-side development experience building RESTful APIs.
• Experience with frameworks such as Node.js.
• Previous experience with Walmart is highly preferred.
• Experience with other major technology companies, particularly eBay, is a strong plus.

The selected candidate will be working on Lists and Registry experiences within Walmart's Android ecosystem.

• This is a hybrid position in Sunnyvale, CA.
• Onsite presence is required 2 days per week – Tuesday and Thursday.
• A Walmart badge will be required.
• Candidates must successfully complete the Vendor Safe screening process.
• No visa sponsorship is available now or in the future.
• Contract is currently expected to run through January 31, 2027, with potential for conversion to a full-time position.
