Industrial Engineer Position SummaryThe Industrial Engineer will support the Automation & Manufacturing Engineering team, leading operational excellence through data‑driven analysis, facility layout optimization, and development of standardized machine processes. Responsibilities include supporting the lifecycle of new equipment and automation initiatives, from justification and specification to installation, training, and handover to production.
Key Responsibilities Facility & Process Optimization- Develop, update, and optimize facility layouts to support efficient material flow and scalable production capacity.
- Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity modeling to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure layouts meet equipment requirements, safety standards, and expansion plans.
- Analyze production data, machine performance, labor utilization, and throughput to develop business cases for new equipment or automation initiatives.
- Create ROI models, payback analyses, and scenario comparisons to support capital expenditure requests.
- Present complex technical and operational data into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
- Define and document machine processing steps, including standard work instructions, job aids, and operator workflows.
- Partner with the Automation Manager to reflect machine capabilities, cycle times, and quality requirements accurately in process documentation.
- Support PFMEA, control plan development, and risk assessment for new or modified processes.
- Serve as a liaison between engineering, vendors, and production teams during equipment installation, commissioning, and validation.
- Coordinate operator training to ensure readiness for safe and efficient machine operation.
- Support ramp‑up activities, troubleshoot early‑stage issues, and ensure smooth transition to steady‑state production.
- Maintain project documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives post‑launch.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or automation‑related roles.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar).
- Experience with facility layout tools (AutoCAD, Solid Works, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma manufacturing principles, time studies, and standard work development.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and vendor teams.
- Hands‑on approach, willing to work on the production floor to validate processes and support installations.
- Experience supporting automation projects or machine integrations.
- Knowledge of MES, SCADA, or machine data capture systems (e.g., Ignition).
- Exposure to PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
