Fire Sprinkler Design Manager
We are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Design Manager to lead the design and coordination of commercial fire sprinkler projects from concept through installation. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the design team, ensuring code compliance, managing project schedules, and coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality fire protection systems.
The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in fire sprinkler design, leadership experience, and the ability to manage multiple commercial projects while mentoring designers and supporting project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the fire sprinkler design department, overseeing multiple commercial projects simultaneously.
- Design and review fire sprinkler systems using AutoCAD and HydraCAD.
- Prepare and approve shop drawings, fabrication drawings, hydraulic calculations, and complete submittal packages.
- Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings, project specifications, and contract documents.
- Ensure all designs comply with NFPA standards, local building codes, and project-specific requirements.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, field personnel, contractors, engineers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and quality control for the design team.
- Resolve design conflicts, field coordination issues, and installation challenges.
- Conduct site visits, project surveys, and hydrant flow tests when required.
- Support material procurement, fabrication coordination, project scheduling, and project closeout documentation.
- Identify project risks early and develop practical, cost-effective design solutions.
- Establish design standards, improve workflows, and promote continuous process improvements.
5+ years of commercial fire sprinkler design experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and HydraCAD.
Strong understanding of NFPA 13, local fire codes, and commercial sprinkler system design.
Experience preparing hydraulic calculations and complete design submittals.
Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
Proven experience coordinating with project managers, field installation teams, contractors, and engineers.
Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
High School Diploma required; technical education or related coursework is a plus.
Valid Driver's License.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
NICET Certification (Level III or IV preferred).
Experience managing commercial projects including office buildings, retail, warehouses, healthcare, educational, hospitality, and light industrial facilities.
Experience leading or mentoring fire sprinkler designers.
Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, field installation practices, and project lifecycle management.
