Nursing Director – ICU, CSU & Dialysis

Facility: Community-based acute care hospital with advanced specialty services
Location: Greater Dallas–Fort Worth Region, Texas
Employment Type: Full-Time | Onsite Leadership Role

Position Overview

The Nursing Director – ICU, CSU & Dialysis provides executive-level nursing leadership across multiple high-acuity service lines, including Intensive Care, Cardiac Specialty, and Dialysis services.

This leader is accountable for the clinical, operational, quality, and financial performance of assigned departments and plays a critical role in advancing patient safety, nursing excellence, and strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals. The role partners closely with physician leaders, nursing leadership, and senior administration to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Operational Leadership

  • Provide leadership oversight for ICU, CSU, and Dialysis units

  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation readiness

  • Promote evidence-based practice, shared governance, and professional nursing practice

  • Oversee performance improvement, quality initiatives, and patient safety programs

Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute short- and long-term operational and strategic plans

  • Communicate priorities, set expectations, and monitor performance outcomes

  • Mentor and coach managers and frontline leaders in leadership development, change management, and resource utilization

  • Facilitate unit-based and hospital-wide meetings

Financial & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets

  • Analyze and justify financial performance

  • Optimize staffing models and resource utilization

  • Maintain accountability for fiscal performance and cost controls

People & Culture

  • Lead and evaluate direct reports, including performance management and development planning

  • Address staff relations, physician concerns, and patient/family grievances

  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and high-engagement work environment

  • Support workforce education, training, and professional development

Regulatory & Organizational Readiness

  • Oversee policy and procedure development and revision

  • Lead regulatory readiness, disaster preparedness, and compliance initiatives

  • Collaborate across departments on enterprise-wide operational improvements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in critical care nursing

  • Leadership experience overseeing clinical teams or multiple care areas

  • Active Texas RN license or compact (NLC) RN license eligible to practice in Texas

  • Successful completion of a critical care course

  • Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications

  • CPI certification within six (6) months of hire

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Basic computer proficiency

Additional language proficiency preferred
