Step Down Registered Nurse Fulltime

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Step Down Registered Nurse to independently perform direct patient care in our Cardiac Specialty Unit. The RN will use the nursing process to deliver developmentally appropriate care and collaborate with a health‑care team to provide comprehensive plans that meet patient/family needs.

• Use the nursing process for direct patient care.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Act as a resource and lead projects; solve complex problems.
• Work independently with minimal guidance.
• Explain difficult information and build consensus.
• Oversee the patient care team and coordinate care plans.
• Ensure safety, effectiveness, and standards of patient care.
• Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care using evidence‑based guidelines.
• Provide education and facilitate learning for patients, families, and team members.
• Advocate for patients and resolve ethical and clinical concerns.
• Accurately document patient encounters and protect patient health information.
• Adhere to infection prevention initiatives.
• Deliver competent care with emphasis on good customer relations and evidence‑based practice.
• Continuously evaluate patient condition and collaborate with the healthcare team; manage resources for patients and families.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor or Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Current Texas Registered Nurse license.
• Two or more years of recent critical‑care experience.
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
• CCRN preferred.
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer knowledge.
