Position: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN IV

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN IV

Location: Sunnyvale, Texas, United States, 75182

Dal‑Tile is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician IV to join our TEAM! As the Maintenance Technician we need someone who can make adjustments to machines and equipment for proper operation.

Primary Objective

Performs complex mechanical duties and a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy. Installs, maintains and replaces electronic programmable controllers in a manufacturing environment.

Major Function and Scope
  • Troubleshoot PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controller) using handheld device or laptop.
  • Design and redesign program and software (PLCs, operator panels, etc.).
  • Format hard drives and install to the computers (Computer Setup) and PC application.
  • Installs, maintains or repairs equipment for the generation, distribution or utilization of electrical energy in a manufacturing environment.
  • Locates and diagnoses trouble in electrical systems or equipment working from blue‑prints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.
  • Works standard computations related to load requirements of wiring and/or electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of serial port communication systems, VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives) and process control instrumentation devices (thermocouples, pressure switches, etc.).
  • Knowledge of servomotors and drive units.
  • Continuously reviews their respective area for ideas and thoughts that will drive productivity and reduce costs within the organization and can professionally speak to their solution for improvement.
  • Uses a variety of electrician’s tools including measuring and testing instruments.
  • Leads projects and completes them successfully, returning equipment to production operating safely and efficiently.
  • Keeps work area safe, clean and organized.
Process Improvement

Plan and submit process improvements and execute the plan.

Experience and Knowledge Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience. Knowledge of electrical code. Journeyman electrical license preferred.
  • 4 or more years industrial maintenance experience and 2 years industrial electrical experience. Formal PCL training preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and PLC’s.
  • Ability to score 80% or better on the Industrial Maintenance exam.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures in English.
  • Ability to test motors and electrical circuits using a voltmeter and amp meter.
  • In‑depth knowledge of LGV equipment and operation.

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • May be required to sometimes sit, climb, or balance.
  • May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Possible exposure to a wide range of temperatures.
  • Noise level is usually loud.
