Position: Field Service Technician 1 - HOLT Industrial Rentals

Field Service Technician I - HOLT Industrial Rentals

Field Service Technician I provides face‑to‑face customer service at off‑site locations and is responsible for minor troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning of light and heavy industrial rental equipment.

Expectations include:

  • Collaborate with key internal and external resources.
  • Participate in ongoing self‑development.
Essential Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools and processes.
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to safety policies, company procedures, and standards.
  • Performs minor repairs and troubleshooting off‑site with minimal supervision.
  • Performs minor troubleshooting and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Removes, installs parts, disassembles, and assembles basic components.
  • Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of all repairs and adjustments.
  • Prepares and completes job‑related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records.
  • Operates equipment and vehicles with necessary licenses and certificates.
  • Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections, and driver logs as required.
  • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
  • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in good, clean, and working order.
  • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.
  • Completes assigned jobs to meet flat‑rate time and re‑work standards.
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.
  • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely manner.
  • Projects professionalism with internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may mentor lower level technicians.
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment, tools, designs, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, engines, undercarriage, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with current computer software, hardware, and basic machine electronic systems.
  • Exceptional customer‑service skills.
  • Basic diagnostic and trouble‑shooting skills.
  • Planning and organizing skills to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently.
  • Operation and control skills of equipment or systems.
  • Equipment selection skills to determine needed tools and equipment.
  • Clear and effective communication, verbal and written.
  • Ability to operate crane and forklift and obtain required certifications/licenses.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under fast‑paced, time‑constraining circumstances.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
  • Fine motor skills for handling small objects.
Requirements
  • More than one year of industrial equipment experience required; two or more years preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • MSHA certification preferred.
  • Air conditioning certification preferred.
  • Crane/Rigger certifications preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required; may obtain valid CDL with acceptable driving record.
  • Must own required tools to perform repairs.
Travel

Travel required with possibility of overnight stay.

Physical Requirements
  • Move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue.
  • Frequently move materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lb.
  • Constant limb movement; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ascend/descend ladders or equipment safely.
  • Manipulate equipment underneath safely.
  • React to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms.
Work Environment
  • Wear common protective or safety equipment.
  • Work outdoors around moving mechanical parts; noise level may be loud.
  • May be exposed to weather extremes while working outside.
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high‑pressure water, and high‑speed rotating equipment.
  • Work in cramped spaces and/or high places.
